Those who have been on sick leave for more than 2.5 years. When the so-called edge was introduced at the end of 2009, the number of 1 500. In October of last year the figure had risen to 16 400 people, according to new statistics from the Swedish social Insurance as SVT:s Agenda ordered.

"the edge" meant that only those who were hospitalized or "missing reality" could be on sick leave for more than 2.5 years. The limit, introduced by the alliance government, was abolished by the current red-green government.

Even the group that received sickness benefit over a year is growing: from 23 900 in October 2009 to 53 500 persons the same month in 2016. Groups with those who have been sick for more than three months and half a year has, however, decreased.
