Paulsen leaving politics – Aftonbladet

The Liberal Party MEP Marit Paulsen, 75, leaves politics – and reverts to being a writer.

This is a range of diseases weighing on her.

– The error, my friends, is an ancient body. It’s a bit hard to stay in it, she says.

– 66 years is a long time, maybe an unreasonably long time, she says.

Marit Paulsen is now planning to move home to Malung semiannually. There, she will write a book about the environment in which she will try to tie together all the different parts she worked with. The second half of the year, she plans to stay in a caravan in Europe warmer parts. First in Alicante, Spain.



Went from S to FP

Marit Paulsen has long been one of the Liberal Party’s most popular politicians and voice magnets. She’s long been involved in issues related to agriculture, food and animal welfare.

1994 she campaigned for a yes to the EU, but then as a Social Democrat. Four years later, she left the party and ran for FP in elections to the European Parliament in 1999. She was elected and sat as parliamentarians until 2004. Five years later, she made a comeback again and was elected again.

In the last European election campaign, in May 2014, she went forward with the campaign “Right cash for work”. Already there were warning signs that talked about that maybe she would not survive a period because of their illnesses.
