The Government agrees with the V: Contribution of glasses for all children – Swedish Radio

All children up to 19 years who have a visual impairment will be eligible to buy glasses. The government and the Left Party have agreed to invest 120 million dollars per year on glasses contributions from 2016.

The organization Majblomman who fought for the question ten years welcomes the news.

– It’s all about that one must consider it as a disability when the child has poor vision. That may aid because it is an issue of rights for children, says Lena Holm, Secretary General of the Mayflower.

Today, it looks very different in different parts of the country which grants children and young people can get for glasses. All counties have some type of eyewear allowance for children up to seven years. But how much, and what type of glass, differ between county councils. It notes the Mayflower in his report from last year.

Now the government and the Left agreed that even children over seven years, and up to 19 years, will get a refund if you have a visual impairment.

And Now it is important that it now becomes equal regardless of where you live in the country, says Lena Holm at the Mayflower.

– Preliminary task is that this will apply to all children, and equal in all counties, so that there will be a raffle for the children that live in the right place. That it really is, we will monitor very closely, says Lena Holm at the Mayflower.
