Thousands of skiers trapped in the Alps – Aftonbladet

A rockslide has blocked the only road to and from the ski resort of Val Thorens.

1600 Swedish adolescents are fixed at the resort. Some run away with grooming machines, others are preparing to spend the night in a gymnasium.

The collapse occurred on Friday afternoon near the ski resort of Val Thorens in the French Alps. Two large boulders blocking now the only road up to the resort. The blocks will according to French media weigh “50 tons”.

No one has been injured but organizers expect long delays for those traveling home on Saturday.



Running away with grooming machines

Fabian Dahl and his buddies have had to leave their hotel and is now preparing for a night on the bus station. They have no hope to be able to go on Saturday.

– All other hotels are fully booked and there is no chance to get back to our old room. We’ll sleep on our bags, he said.

Another stress factor is that school starts on Monday again.

– I have to submit a secondary work on Friday, so there is little chaos with it too, says Fabian Dahl.
