KD crack on December agreement – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

KD crack on December agreement – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

After Christmas took place on historic handshake between the Alliance and the S and MP who made it possible for the government to get through its budget. But the December agreement has raised questions of the Alliance’s grass roots and voters.

James Forssmed, vying to take over the leader’s jersey after Göran Hägglund, was himself involved in negotiating the agreement. He argues that it was necessary.

– It was important to us that a minority government should be able to govern. It also increased the conditions for the Alliance would be able to stay together and and that there was a large coalition which made up the social democrats in the middle, he says.

Even the party secretary Acko Ankarberg Johansson and MP Penilla Gunther – both vying for party leader – argue that the agreement was necessary.

But Ebba Busch Thor see several problems with it.

– I can not answer about myself had concluded the agreement if I had been sitting at the negotiating table, she said.

A challenge for KD will be to show voters that they still have the opportunity to pursue powerful opinion-policy, she says. At the same time, she describes it as positive that Sweden can be controlled in a “stable and predictable manner” after the agreement.

Now, she wants the Christian Democrats go ahead with its own budget motion instead of adding a common alliance budget.

– I believe it is necessary that we should be able to show what the Christian Democratic policies would result if the full impact. My focus is on the KD goes forward with its own budget as soon as possible so that we can show our character, even in terms of dollars and cents, says Ebba Busch Thor.

Several Alliance representatives, including otherwise Center Party leader Annie Loof, believe that the Alliance should wait to say whether one goes forward with its own budget. Something that Ebba Busch Thor is doubtful.

– It is important to be clear about their policies. If there is a fantastically important strategic points with waiting with a vengeance, it’s something you can consider. But in the current situation I do not see the benefits, she says.

James Forssmed – who is the party’s economic policy spokesperson – want in the current situation does not say whether the party should go forward with its own budget.

– We will come back with how we are doing. There are advantages to going forward with their own motion when it becomes clearer how to profile the party. But there are also advantages of a common alternatives shows that there is a viable alternative government, he said.
