The former Soviet spy Stig Bergling has died, writes DN. – Aftonbladet

Stigenberg, born in 1937, grew up in central Stockholm.

He started working in the police force in 1958 and was employed at SAPO 1969. He also did the UN service on some occasions.

In the mid-1970s began at Sapo suspect that the man had a mole in their ranks, Bergeling quickly became interesting in the investigation.

in 1979, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for espionage.

He held 1987 and lived among others in Russia, Hungary and Lebanon.

1994, he returned voluntarily to Sweden and returned to prison. After three years, he was released.

In recent years he has lived under a different name in a nursing home in Stockholm. (TT)
