Different focus of the alliance parties integration proposals – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

On Wednesday, the Liberal Party produced a number of new proposals on Integration. The party wants to, among other things, that temporary permits shall become permanent residence permits only when the applicant has obtained work.

– The purpose is to more refugees quickly settle into jobs and have their own salary instead of living on benefits and of alienation, says Jan Björklund on the new integration proposals.

Even KD opened for tougher rules for permanent residence before Christmas, and FP-leader Jan Björklund call for proposals “similar”. The big difference is that FP want an exception for families with children under 18, he said.

But it can be difficult for the Alliance to find a consensus on the issue. This weekend will also be the Centre Party to submit a report on the integration area – and the party has a different idea of permanent residence.

– Our position is that permanent residency is important for people to feel safe, reunite with their families and start working faster, says the Center of migration policy spokesperson Johanna Jonsson.

The Liberals also want to see tougher security requirements for family immigrants. Alliance government tightened the rules during his time in power – but the party leader Jan Björklund think it was too many exceptions.

Do you expect fewer family immigrants with these suggestions?

– No, I do not think so. I think the effect will be that those who come here as refugees have a greater incentive to quickly find a job. But it may well be that a family member will have to wait a bit longer before they get to come here, says Jan Björklund.

Do not immigrants already motivated to acquire job?

– I believe that all people want jobs but I still think that this type of driving forces affecting the margin.

The Centre Party is cautious about changing the rules for family immigration.

– It is important to remember that many of those who come as families have their own reasons for asylum, says Johanna Jonsson.

The Liberal Party has also dusted of the idea of language requirements for citizenship and Jan Björklund believes that today may be a greater chance than ever to win support for it at the other Alliance parties. But Johanna Jonsson rejects the proposal.

– It is no secret that we in the Centre Party has never been behind this requirement. We have no new position on the field, she said.

In the report The Center presents this weekend will focus on the reception of refugees in the municipalities.

– It is very important to watch the emergency situation in many municipalities that have a very large reception right now, says Johanna Jonsson.
