Cardiac Lab solace for children with heart defects – Västerbotten Courier

A cardiac laboratory, which is the only of its kind in the world, has been put into use at the Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital in Gothenburg.

Thanks to the many children with congenital heart defects escape to undergo difficult surgery.

“We can more rapidly and more safely navigate around the often very complex heart defects, which we may consider for our youngest patients whose hearts are not larger than a strawberry, “says Dr Björn Söderberg in a press release.

With the new lab investigations may be made with lower radiation doses, better image quality and potential for three-dimensional imaging and surgery avoided.
