Prison for the abduction on Öland – Swedish Radio

The North Köpingsbo who last fall took away his teenage daughter from Öland, where she lives, was sentenced today to a year in prison for unlawful imprisonment.

It was the middle of October last year that the man along with two associates should have forced the girl into a car before several witnesses. The girl was then driven to the mainland where she was hiding with friends to the man in one day.

The abduction received considerable media attention after a nationwide alert went out after the man approached he police in Norrköping and the girl could be returned to its home on Öland.

The background to the crime is a custody dispute and the man himself has always maintained that no coercion occurred. According to the district court, it is obvious that the girl had been detained against their will and man sentenced now to a year in prison.

Of the four people who have been accused of having helped his father, sentenced another to a year in prison Two get probation and community service while a freed.
