Man burned in explosion in house fire on Öland – Swedish Radio

A villa in Skogsby Öland received extensive damage in a fire that broke out at 21 o’clock on Sunday. The homeowner, a man of 45 years of age are cared for even in hospitals. When he was in the basement started the fire with an explosion. The man was then burned.

He lost not consciousness but could very alert SOS. In the morning it was reported that his burns are not serious.

The same house was exposed last November for an arson attack. The time saved by the man that his dog barked. Even now there is a suspicion of arson.

The alarm went then at 21 o’clock. When the rescue services arrived burned it a lot in the basement. The initial stage was a clear risk that the fire would spread further up into the house. They managed to contain the fire to the basement and the joists.

The fire chief Bengt Andersson who led the fire strength designated fire that can not be extinguished.

– The house is old and it was burning in several places in the soffit . Late into the night we could inter ensure that the fire was extinguished, Andersson said during Monday morning.
